AN INTRODUCTION TO VISUAL EFFECTS IN FINAL CUT PRO

When: Saturday March 6th, 2010

Where: IFCO - Suite #140 - #2 Daly Avenue, Arts Court Building
Cost: Full Members $75.00, Basic Members $85.00, Non-members: Professional Rate $165.00, Student Rate $110.00 – non-member rates include an IFCO membership.

NOTE: Workshop fees also include 4 hours of practice time on the system.

Description:
This intensive full day editing workshop is aimed at people already familiar with Final Cut Pro and wish to build on their existing editing skills and become more familiar with the effects options in Final Cut Pro. Participants are welcomed to bring along their own transferred film material, however footage can be provided by IFCO to practice with.

NOTE: Previous experience using final cut pro is a prerequisite to taking this class.

The following topics will be covered:
Introduction to Colour Correction and Colour Balance
Image control and controlling brightness and contrast
Superimpositions
How to create and effectively use Mattes
Image distortion and rotating, cropping and changing speed
Fades/Dissolves
Creating Titles

Instructor's Bio:
Michel Massicotte is an undergraduate in English from the University of Ottawa, and a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature. A member at IFCO since the summer 1996, he has been writing, executive producing, directing, editing, computer modeling and animating 5 shorts, and 1 feature, the last of which is currently in post production. Aside from 1 drama, “She Shoots, He Scores”, all of his movies are centered on science fiction. Michel also worked camera, directed and edited productions for fellow producers, including a short, a documentary, a play and several industrial videos.
