GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP

This Grantwriting workshop is intended to provide emerging and mid-career filmmakers with little to no grant writing experience with the knowledge and language needed to write a successful application. The Instructor will cover grant writing for both emerging and professional media artists who are attempting to access grants from various funding agencies such as media art centres, City of Ottawa, Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts. It is helpful, but not necessary to have a project in mind for this workshop.

Participants will learn about the following topics:
(a) Funding resources (arts councils, media arts centres, etc.);
(b) Funding programs and deadlines;
(c) The grant writing process; and
(d) Reviewing examples from successful Grant proposals.

Instructors Bio:
A working artist, Kelly Ann Beaton created Pink Slippers Productions, an Ottawa-based independent film and theatrical production company, in 1998.

Her most recent film, Stop was released in February 2014. She is currently working on her next short, Modern Prayer and is working on getting her plays  Bus 76 and Dinner for One to the stage this year.

Library and Archives Canada has acquired and preserved copies of her films.

Active in the Ottawa cultural community, Kelly Ann has been involved with a number of organizations, including the Ottawa International Jazz Festival and is a member of the Independent Filmmakers Co-operative of Ottawa (IFCO), and SAW Video, She is a guest instructor at IFCO and University of Ottawa.
