IFCO invites you to participate in “BITTER FLICKS”, its 2017 Super 8mm filmmaking Production Challenge. We want our filmmakers to work with Super 8mm film to create new films using the theme of “BITTER FLICKS”; creating films based on either a literal or metaphorical interpretation of the theme. So think outside the box and experiment with “BITTER FLICKS”. All films created as part of this Challenge will be showcased at a special screening in February 2018 at a date and venue to be announced later.
Each filmmaker will be given the choice between a cartridge of either KODAK VISION3 50D Color Negative Film 7203, or KODAK VISION3 200T Color Negative Film 7213 – film stock. After principal day of photography has been completed, the exposed film needs to be turned over to IFCO’s Technical Staff so that it can be sent to the lab in Toronto for processing and transfer. All films must additionally include IFCO’s logo in their credits; an electronic or hard copy of the logo will be provided to each filmmaker.
Each filmmaker must have their final edited film, submitted on a QuickTime Data File (including Apple Pro Res or MOV. Files ONLY). Completed films must be submitted to IFCO by Friday, January 26th, 2018. Final films should have either a minimum running time of 2.5 minutes, or a maximum running time of 3 minutes plus credits. Each filmmaker will receive an artist screening fee from IFCO for showcasing their film.
Each filmmaker will have access to the following production equipment and post–production facility:
Super 8mm Camera;
Tripod (based on availability);
Sound Kit (based on availability); and
Adobe Premiere Pro Suite.
Please Note: Equipment requests are dependent on availability, please book your gear early. Filmmakers will also have the opportunity for one-on-one training with IFCO’s Technical Staff, so don’t worry if you have never used a Super 8mm camera before. You can contact the Technical Staff at email@example.com to schedule all bookings.
