16mm Picture Show Creation for Gals!

This four-week course offers women of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to learn the art of 16mm filmmaking. The course is suitable for all levels of experience.

Over four Wednesday evenings, the group will meet at IFCO to learn theoretical and practical elements of filmmaking. The course will focus on helping participants become comfortable with the Bolex camera and 16mm filmmaking. During class-time we will also discuss project development, budgeting & funding, lighting techniques, editing & Final Cut Pro, and promotion & distribution. In addition, each participant will have the opportunity to make their own 16mm film!

The following is included in the workshop:
1 - 100’ roll of 16mm Colour Negative Film
Cost of processing and transferring film to a digital format
6 hours of additional edit time on Final Cut Pro
12 hours of instruction time
Equipment rentals
Original film negatives and DVD copy of final film

Instructor's Bio:
Bridget Farr is an active Ottawa-based artist who has been using film to create artistic imagery since 1992. A graduate of both film studies and the photographic arts, Farr has directed over ten short films, which have been screened at over 100 film festivals worldwide. www.farrout.ca.
